“I wish I could show you, when you are lonely or in darkness, the astonishing light of your own being.” Persian Poet Hafiz
The Self Help buzz word at the moment is Mindfulness. So what is Mindfulness and what is it all about? Mindfulness is simply about being in the moment, being totally present to where you are and what you are doing. In its natural essence it really is very simple but in our very stressful chaotic lives it is everything but. How do we embrace it and master it?
Firstly we recognse it as a practise that is very much within us innately and not outside us. We also accept that it is not something associated with a particular religion. Although the roots from Mindfulness stem from Buddhism, it is a spiritual practise based on being awake and in tune with oneself. It is a form of mental training that can help us live a life of ease. It is very much the opposite of taking daily life for granted and living habitually. The key to the path of Mindfulness is to be in the moment. This offers the opportunity to silence the mind and become more aware of the present moment, that’s where the joy hangs out!
We are all familar with what happens when we are not fully aware of the present moment – mistakes, accidents, reactions and automatic behaviours driven by fear and insecurities. Are you ready to make that shift from the downward spiral of negative thinking to knowing of how to turn your day around? Learn how to quieten the chatter of the mind and get out of the head and into the heart, to experience joy and peace more often. Mindfulness is expansive and just gets better and better.
Wake up from the sleep?
It is simple, but not easy! Being mindful takes us out of automatic pilot or the rut of everyday life, empowering us to experience the richness of the present moment, offering us clarity, creativity and wisdom in a gentle way. The practise of simple Mindfulness techniques can be a great stepping st0ne for learning to meditate.
