Do affirmations work?
This is one of the questions that I am asked most frequently by new clients – “Do affirmations work?” I believe wholeheartedly in the power of affirmations and so I am delighted to share with you an extract from my soon to be released book Bloom Girl.
The Power of Affirmations
I would like to offer a word on affirmations. Affirmations are one of my favorite self help tools and can shift the mood instantly. When clients first begin to work with me, they often ask if I believe that affirmations work? I understand something that simple can almost appear a bit fluffy and fuzzy and maybe even twee. Affirmations are simply statements we say to make something firm, to declare what you do want, and to affirm as though something has already happened said in the present tense. Negative affirmations only confirm and attract more of what you don’t want. We are not denying the challenges of the present but simply focusing on the hope of the future. Allow your affirmations to permeate your consciousness until they manifest for real. Your belief in affirmations is a key component to this journey in changing your power. It is vital to the process.
The most powerful way to say your affirmations is to look in your eyes while looking in a mirror. Positive vibes and thoughts will flow from affirmations work. But we must consciously choose the thoughts to develop and master a more positive mindset.
Saying affirmations is very powerful tool when applied and used consistently. Wallace Wattle in his book The Science of Getting Rich said,
“There is a thinking stuff from which all things are made, which, in its original state, permeates, penetrates, and fills the interspaces of the universe. A thought, in this substance, produces the thing that is imaged by the thought. Man can form things in his thought, and by impressing his thought upon formless substance, can cause the thing he thinks about to be created.”
Affirmations are the perfect precursors to our thoughts as it all begins in the mind. I like to journal daily my positive affirmations that reflect my current goals, continuously impressing my new life, the life I am truly deserving of, upon my subconscious, thereby reprogramming old tribal subconscious beliefs that no longer serve my higher self and divine master plan.
A few of my favourite soothing affirmations:
- I am safe in the world.
- It is safe for me to feel, express, and release.
- I am worthy.
- I am enough.
- I approve of myself.
- It is safe for me to embrace my healing journey.
- Today I honour my inner child.
