What is the difference between Meditation and Mindfulness?

I am often asked the question if Meditation and Mindfulness are the same thing?

Meditation

They have similarities but are not exactly the same thing.

Meditation is usually a formal sitting activity, bringing our awareness to our breath, connecting with the senses, quietening the mind to experience inner peace. It can often include a guided visualisation.

Meditation can bring our body to it’s natural state also known as ‘homeostasis’.

I particularly love the Max Meditation SystemTM from The Modern Mystery School, it offers a fusion of techniques and is suitable and accessible to all 🌹

Mindfulness on the other hand is all about being aware in every day life which of course includes the practice of Meditation.

When you are actually being mindful you are paying attention to the activity at hand, noticing and paying attention to the senses, body and movement. Each time the mind wonders you bring your awareness back to the present moment. For example, take a simple daily activity such as washing your hands – you can observe the movement of the fingers, smell the soap, feel the water and so on.

Therefore you can practice Mindfulness anywhere.

Connect with the senses

I believe Meditation is the master key to living in the now. It supports and enriches your mindfulness in your every day life.

The power and magic is in the now 🌺

Be still and know,
